Meet the Team

Originally from Hull, Richard qualified from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Dental Institute in London winning multiple undergraduate prizes having previously gained an Honours degree in Biomedical Science. He completed his dental foundation training in North Yorkshire and then continued his training by working as a community dental officer in County Durham. This position involved dealing with anxious adults and children, often under sedation or general anaesthetic. He passed his membership exams at the Royal College of Surgeons England during this time.

After his community post, he worked at James Cook University Hospital Oral and Maxillofacial Department developing his oral surgery skills and managing trauma patients in A&E.

Upon leaving his hospital role, Richard split his time between general practice in York and the prison service, further developing his skills by completing an advanced certificate in restorative dentistry. Particularly enjoying oral surgery, he has completed a year-long implant course at the highly regarded Campbell Academy in Nottingham and is a member of the International Team of Implantology.

The experience and knowledge gained from his previous roles allow Richard to provide the highest quality of care to his patients in a relaxed environment.

Richard lives locally in Ripon with his wife, and three children and can often be found walking his dog.

Freya graduated from Newcastle University in 2011 and went on to complete the two-year GPT scheme, gaining invaluable experience in restorative, paediatric, oral surgery and emergency dental care. During this time, Freya was awarded her MFDS and entry into the Royal College of Surgeons.

Freya then moved to Scotland to undertake further training in oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS), obtaining her Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Education. She then made the decision to return to general dental practice, however, also continued to work as an OMFS trust doctor for a further two years.

Freya has also continued to enjoy working as a general dental practitioner and providing access to emergency care for NHS out-of-hours patients. She has a keen interest in endodontics and has completed a post graduate diploma in endodontics, achieving a merit. Freya is now currently studing a masters in endodontics.

Outside of her time at our Boroughbridge Dental Centre, Freya enjoys spending time in the countryside walking her dog Gertie, keeping fit with exercise classes and travelling.

Michaela is a friendly and caring general and clear dentist originally from Ireland. She graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 2017 and began her career with our practice as a foundation dentist the same year. Since then, she has gained extensive experience working in both NHS and private practices across Yorkshire and Wales, where she has developed a reputation for providing high-quality, patient-focused care.

Michaela has a particular interest in teeth straightening and facial aesthetics, helping patients achieve confident, natural-looking smiles. She takes great pride in building trusting relationships with her patients and is especially skilled at helping those who may feel nervous or anxious about visiting the dentist feel comfortable and at ease.

Outside of dentistry, Michaela enjoys spending time with her family, or exploring new places, which helps her bring warmth and approachability to her work.

Mafalda qualified from Oporto University, Portugal, in 2009 and has been working in the UK since 2010, of which the last 9 years have been in York. Dentistry is not just her work, but her passion. She practises all aspects of dentistry, but her work is based on the philosophy of minimally invasive dentistry. This belief system means that Mafalda recognises the importance of having a beautiful natural smile, but preserving the health of the tooth comes first.

Mafalda is committed to delivering dentistry of the highest quality. Through this commitment, she has attended numerous courses all over Europe, including a postgraduate restorative course at the prestigious Tipton Academy, a postgraduate course in orthodontics at the University of Warwick, an Invisalign master course, a Damon-accredited master course, and further training in composite bonding with the renowned Monik Vasant. She has also been an Invisalign leading provider since 2014, helping hundreds of patients achieve their dream smiles.

Over the last few years, Mafalda has developed an interest in facial aesthetics and ways of working non-surgically on the face to enhance a range of features and improve the health of the skin. The importance of facial aesthetics to orthodontics has its origins at the beginning of the speciality. Mafalda believes that an aesthetic or ‘harmonious’ face requires a full complement of teeth and finds beauty in the ability to combine both. Her goal is to ensure our Ripon patients look and feel good about themselves by proving subtle treatments that will enhance their beauty.

Paul is originally from Sunderland and qualified from Leeds University in 2014. Since then, he has worked in both NHS and private dental practices.

He prides himself on providing excellent patient care and values clear communication with his patients. Paul also stays up to date with the latest advances in dentistry to ensure he can offer the best possible treatment and care.

With a keen interest in teeth straightening using clear aligners, he also provides cosmetic dental treatments, including composite bonding and teeth whitening.

Outside of work, Paul enjoys socializing with friends and family and going for walks with his two small dogs. He is a sports enthusiast, especially passionate about football, and is a loyal supporter of Sunderland Football Club.

Dr.Florentyna is a General Dentist with a special interest in cosmetic dentistry, including teeth straightening and composite bonding.

She graduated with Master and Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree with distinction from the University of Leeds and has since provided quality general dental care in York and Harrogate.

Alongside her dental expertise, Dr.Florentyna is also an experienced Aesthetic Practitioner, offering treatments with botulinum toxin, dermal fillers, and regenerative medicine. Dedicated to ongoing learning, she recently complated a Postgraduate Certificate in Aesthetic Medicine at Queen Mary University of London, further enhancing her expertise in skin aging, prevention and rejuvenation.

In her spare time, Dr.Florentyna loves taking walks with her Springer Spaniel, Willow. This time outdoors provides a refreshing balance to her professional life, combining her passion for health and well-being with an appreciation for nature.

Dr. Heidi Foster is a dedicated dentist with over a decade of experience, with special interest in dental implants and restorative dentistry. After qualifying from the University of Leeds in 2011, Heidi has cultivated a passion for transforming smiles and restoring patients’ confidence. Her expertise in dental implants allows her to provide effective, long-term solutions for those with missing teeth, helping them regain function and aesthetics. In restorative dentistry, she combines skill and artistry to repair and enhance damaged teeth, ensuring that her patients enjoy both health and beauty in their smiles.

For Heidi, being a dentist isn’t just a job—it’s a privilege. She loves the opportunity to care for her patients, building trust and improving lives through personalized dental treatment. Her approach is grounded in empathy, and she’s committed to making every visit a positive experience.

Outside of work, Heidi is a devoted mother to two children, a boy and a girl. Together, they share a family passion for football, often spending weekends cheering on local matches or supporting their favorite team, Sheffield Wednesday. Whether on the sidelines or in the dental chair, Heidi brings enthusiasm and care to everything she does.

Kate is our foundation dentist. Originally from Suffolk, she graduated from the University of Leeds with both a Bachelor and Master of Dental Surgery, achieving distinction.

Kate enjoys working in general practice and providing all aspects of general dental care. She is passionate about ensuring patients feel comfortable, listened to, and fully informed throughout their treatment, and she takes pride in creating a calm and reassuring experience for every patient.

Alice is a dedicated dental therapist at Boroughbridge Dental Centre, bringing over a decade of experience to her role. She qualified in 2010 from Leeds University, where her passion for dental care began. Alice takes immense pride in her work, focusing on preventive care and fostering positive dental experiences for her patients, especially children. She believes that early education and treatment are essential for maintaining healthy smiles.

In addition to her expertise in preventive care, Alice has a keen interest in composite bonding, allowing her to enhance and transform smiles to boost confidence. She finds joy in helping her patients achieve the aesthetic results they desire while maintaining optimal oral health. Outside of work, Alice stays active by hitting the gym and enjoys the thrill of shopping, she proudly embraces her inner shopaholic!

With her passion for dentistry and a commitment to her patients, Alice Milner is a valuable member of the Boroughbridge Dental Centre team, dedicated to creating happier, healthier smiles for everyone she meets.

Rebecca qualified as a Dental Hygienist & Therapist from the University of Birmingham in 2016 and joined Boroughbridge Dental Centre in 2021.

Rebecca is committed to creating a comfortable, welcoming environment for patients, treating a wide range of patients including children and the ongoing maintenance of periodontal disease and implants. Rebecca works closely with our dentists to deliver high-quality care and ensure the comfort and well-being of every patient. Rebecca is particularly passionate about preventative care and strives to educate patients on the importance of good oral hygiene practices.

Rebecca keeps up to date with the current evidence based dentistry to be able to provide the best care minimally invasive treatments for her patients including the EMS Airflow treatment which is especially effective for those having clear aligner treatment.

Outside of work, Rebecca enjoys swimming and baking.

Lily enjoys spending her free time with her two dogs on long walks, or reading a good book. She has recently return from maternity leave and her working days are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Roxanne recently qualified from Teeside University in Dental Hygiene and Therapy with First Class Honors. Roxanne focuses on treating patients holistically and helping those who are anxious whilst providing a high standard of oral health care to help patients reach their oral hygiene and health goals.

In her home life, she likes to keep fit by running regularly. When she gets the opportunity, she visits her family and friends back home but her main focus is her mischievous four French bulldogs. Roxy loves to travel around the world.

Lorna began her career at just 16 years old as an apprentice dental nurse at a practice in Ripon. She has since gained extensive experience working in both NHS and private dental practices, developing strong knowledge in clear aligners, teeth straightening, and dental implants. Alongside this, Lorna has completed additional qualifications in impression taking, intra-oral scanning, dental implant nursing, and dental radiography.

More recently, Lorna completed a degree-level apprenticeship in Digital Marketing, achieving honours. She now combines her clinical background with her marketing expertise in her role as Boroughbridge Dental Centre’s on-site Digital Marketer and Treatment Coordinator, where she looks after our implant and teeth straightening patients, ensuring a smooth and supportive patient journey from start to finish.

Outside of work, Lorna enjoys spending quality time with friends and family and is a dedicated CrossFitter.

Laura has been a valued member of the Boroughbridge Dental Centre team for nearly 10 years. As Head Dental Nurse, she leads and supports our dental nursing team, helping to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the practice while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.

Laura has completed her dental implant nursing qualification and plays a key role in guiding and supporting our nurses when assisting with implant procedures. She also holds her dental radiography qualification, further enhancing the level of care and expertise she brings to the practice.

Martyna has been working at the practice for over five years. She joined as a trainee dental nurse after deciding to make a career change following many years as a hairdresser. Martyna is enthusiastic about learning new skills and developing her knowledge within the profession.

She has recently taken on the role of Decontamination Lead and has successfully completed her Level 2 Decon training, helping to ensure our infection control standards remain of the highest quality.

Lynn is one of the longest-standing members of our team and has worked at Boroughbridge Dental Centre for over 20 years. During her time here, she has seen many changes, including our move to a new location over 10 years ago and the growth of our team.

Lynn enjoys being a dental nurse and works closely with our Foundation Dentist, Dr Kate, providing care and support for our NHS patients.

Sophie has been a dental nurse with our clinic for over five years. She took short breaks during both of her pregnancies to welcome her two beautiful little boys. Sophie now works part-time, supporting our associate dentists and playing an important role within the team.

Rebecca has been with the clinic for over three years, joining us initially as an apprentice dental nurse. She has since qualified and is now a valued member of our team. Rebecca enjoys working alongside both our associate dentists and hygiene therapists, assisting with a wide range of treatments and supporting patients throughout their care.

Katie is our most recently qualified dental nurse at the clinic and has already shown great enthusiasm for developing her skills further. She is currently undertaking training in dental implant nursing and has a keen interest in implant dentistry. Katie works closely with Dr Heidi, assisting with implant treatments and continuing to expand her knowledge in this area.

Jessica originally joined Boroughbridge Dental Centre as part of our reception team. After discovering her passion for dentistry, she decided to transition into dental nursing to further her career within the practice.

Jess is now in the final stages of completing her NVQ Level 3 in Dental Nursing, and we are excited to see her continue to grow and flourish in her new role.

Kelly has been part of the clinic for over four years. She originally joined the team as a receptionist and quickly progressed to Head of Reception, demonstrating strong leadership skills and a natural ability to support both patients and colleagues.

In 2025, Kelly completed her Level 3 Customer Service Specialist qualification, further strengthening her expertise in delivering an excellent patient experience.
