Single Dental Implants

A restorative option for single missing teeth, dental implants are sturdy, lifelike and discreet. They can also replace multiple missing teeth. With a good dental routine in place and regular check-ups, dental implants can last a lifetime.

The realistic way to
replace individual teeth

There are many reasons adults lose teeth, including trauma, tooth decay and gum disease. However, in many cases, dental implants can be offered – helping restore not only the appearance of the tooth but also its function.

Tooth implants look remarkably similar to your natural teeth. They’re made of a crown part and a metal ‘root’ part, which anchors to your jaw to create a secure foundation for the tooth. The treatment has an extremely high success rate, and for most patients, the tooth won’t ever need replacing. At our practice, you can expect:

  • A friendly, caring team with years of experience
  • The latest modern facilities in an ideal location
  • Dental health advice, demonstrations and check-ups
  • Denplan membership, to make oral care easier
  • Experts in implantology (dental implants)

Frequently Asked Questions
about Dental Implants

Dental implants are a type of minor oral surgery and are carried out under a local anaesthetic, to minimise pain and discomfort. Any tenderness afterwards can usually be managed by over-the-counter pain relief.

It varies between patients, but it usually takes a few months for the implant to properly anchor to the jaw bone. It’s essential that this process happens, in order to provide a firm base for the crown.

The ‘root’ part is metal and the ‘crown’ part is porcelain. Together, they create a strong and stable tooth that could last a lifetime, with the right care.

If you decide against replacing it, you could have future dental problems. For instance, the surrounding teeth could drift into the gap, and if several teeth are missing, you could lose gum and bone tissue over time.

In the same way you care for your natural teeth – brushing and flossing twice a day for two minutes a time, and regular dental check-ups, as advised by your dentist.

Your Patient Journey

For more than 30 years, we’ve served generations of the same families here in Boroughbridge. Known for our friendly approach, experienced team and commitment to quality, here’s what you can expect from your treatment.

1. Consultation

Any patient interested in dental implants requires a consultation with us, to ensure it’s suitable for you, and no other treatment is needed to go ahead (such as a bone graft).

2. Treatment

The dental implant is placed in two parts, several months apart, to ensure it properly fuses to the jaw bone. We can create a temporary crown for you to wear during this time. A local anaesthetic is used for your comfort.

3. Aftercare

Some swelling and tenderness is often experienced after dental implants are placed, though over-the-counter medicines can usually help with this. Dental implants have an extremely high success rate.
